Position Summary

The Donor Data Specialist will work to support the Development Department in reaching its annual fundraising goals, and is responsible for executing: inputting daily deposits; generating acknowledgment letters in a timely manner; end-of-year receipts; producing reports for mailings and metrics tracking; reconciliation with Accounting; processing credit card gifts; and assisting the Development Department with other related activities, events, and communications as needed.

All work is expected to be completed in conjunction with the organization’s mission; to advance change by feeding the hungry and educating and engaging the community in the fight to end hunger.

Job Responsibilities

1. Database Maintenance & Security

a. Serves as a technical consultant in the preparation and tracking of data in the area of data entry, reporting, querying, mailing, and other functions.

b. Utilizing NCOA, routinely examines and cleanses current data records to ensure data accuracy to eliminate duplicate records, and inconsistent data, to maintain overall database integrity and the accuracy of data imported into the database.

c. Control/code table maintenance including managing appeals, funds, campaigns, and another coding.

2. Data Processing

a. Provides guidance and assistance to the gift entry and acknowledgment processes so they may be completed accurately in a timely fashion.

b. Assist Fundraising staff to identify what data they wish to capture and record.

3. Queries: Imports & Exports

a. Responsible for providing accurate data in a timely and efficient manner, including:

i. Creating, testing, and implementing

1. Ad-hoc queries to provide accurate data as requested

b. Oversees production of reports, including regularly scheduled fundraising statistics for income figures; financial data; attrition reports; and ad hoc reports as required.

c. In conjunction with related staff members or departments, imports/export data.

4. Interdepartmental Cooperation

a. Work closely with the Finance Team in order to ensure consistency and accuracy between accounting and fundraising numbers

b. Work with the Volunteer Team on volunteer-related events, packing and communications

5. Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

1. Associates of Arts degree or equivalent experience

2. Strong background in database management is a plus with one of the following or similar systems: Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or DonorPerfect, (1-2 years minimum experience).

3. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

4. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion

5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills

6. Attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness

7. Willingness to work in a team environment

8. Flexibility to work extra hours for development-related weekends/evening special events

Compensation

This position is a Non-Exempt role with an hourly rate of $17.85. Second Harvest also provides a generous benefits package inclusive of paid health, dental and life insurance for the employee. Employees may elect to participate in the Supplemental Insurance and the Simple IRA program. SHBB recognizes 12 paid holidays each year, and employees receive a generous PTO allotment.
