Full-time Non-Exempt  Position SummaryThe Volunteer Warehouse Coordinator will collaborate with the rest of the Second Harvest team to uphold our mission to “Engage, Feed and Educate.”In collaboration with the Volunteer Coordinator, The Volunteer Warehouse Coordinator is responsible for the successful management of Second Harvest food bank’s volunteer program, including volunteer recruitment, warehouse event preparation, onsite event volunteer training and monitoring, safety training and retention of all volunteers; and for food drive coordination, tracking, receipting and reporting. Flexible hours to include weekends and evening events.

Job Responsibilities

Job responsibilities Include the following, as well as other duties as assigned:

Planning:

• In conjunction with the Volunteer Coordinator, assist with implementing department goals and objectives that line up with the Second Harvest’s mission.

• Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to plan the daily volunteer activities.

• Participate in the planning and establishment of goals and objectives for volunteer programs.

Execution:

• Assist with warehouse inventory control.

• Pull product for packings for Backpack Program, Senior Grocery Program, & Commodity Supplemental Food Program.

• Supervise individual volunteers and volunteer groups to ensure best practices for personal and food safety are followed.

• Execute events and assist with the coordination of the appropriate staff and volunteers.

• Work to promote Second Harvest and volunteerism by attending outside events as needed and as available.

Daily Operations:

• Act as a liaison between volunteers and staff.

• Coordinate with the operations team to maintain a safe working environment for volunteers.

• Set up for and break down set up after all volunteer events.

• Oversee the volunteer work space.

• Assure a positive Volunteer experience during all shifts.

• Volunteer training, oversight, and execution.

• Provide insight on project recommendations, record keeping, compliance and metrics tracking.

• Warehouse receiving, sorting, storage, and distribution assuring proper handling of supporting documentation in compliance with internal control procedures.

• Supervise individual volunteers and volunteer groups to ensure best practices for personal and food safety are followed.

• Participate in staff meetings and other relevant training.

• Represent Second Harvest in the community.

Required Qualifications (knowledge, skills, abilities, competencies)

• High school diploma or equivalent, or two years’ work experience in a related field.

• Energetic, with strong organizational and planning skills.

• Maintains a calm, positive and encouraging demeanor; encourages and motivates others.

• Can build and foster teamwork and collaboration.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to present information verbally and in writing; listens carefully and learns quickly.

• Ability to problem-solve quickly, effectively and objectively while juggling multiple tasks.

Compensation

The Warehouse Coordinator Position is a Non-Exempt role with an hourly pay range of $16.50-19.71 commensurate upon experience. Second Harvest also provides a generous benefits package inclusive of paid health, dental and life insurance for the employee. Employees may elect to participate in the Supplemental Insurance and the Simple IRA program. SHBB recognizes 12 paid holidays each year, and employees receive a generous PTO allotment.
