MOBILE PANTRIES
Mobile pantry food distributions are conducted jointly with our agency partners, often in a church or nonprofit’s parking lot, at an announced date and time.
Mobile pantries offer an efficient way to distribute food and maintain an atmosphere of dignity. A mobile pantry also serves some very specific needs:
- Targets underserved areas, removing barriers to access and therefore expanding capacity and building community.
- Takes food directly to clients promptly, allowing a farmer’s market-style distribution encouraging greater interaction between volunteers and clients, and encouraging everyone to share recipes, family traditions, and life experiences.
- Provides the opportunity for religious and charitable organizations to partner with local governments, businesses, and universities to manage the distribution. A one-time distribution can develop into a long-term partnership to provide necessary services for people in need in the community.
